Simple Daily Skin Care for Healthy-Looking Skin

Content updated: 1 September 2026

A basic routine—gentle cleansing, moisturising and sun protection—usually serves skin better than a crowded shelf of harsh or frequently changed products.

In this guide
  • Clean gently
  • Moisturise consistently
  • Protect from sunlight
  • Introduce products carefully

Clean gently

Use a mild cleanser suited to your skin type. Avoid scrubbing hard or using very hot water. Washing after heavy sweating can also help remove sweat and residue.

Moisturise consistently

Apply moisturiser while the skin is slightly damp to help retain water. A simple fragrance-free option may suit sensitive skin better than several strongly scented products.

Protect from sunlight

Use broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher on exposed skin before going outdoors, and combine it with shade and protective clothing where practical.

Introduce products carefully

  • Add one new product at a time.
  • Patch-test a small area first when irritation is a concern.
  • Stop using a product that causes persistent burning, swelling, rash or worsening irritation.
A shorter routine makes it easier to identify which product helps—or which one irritates your skin.
Painful acne, infection, rapidly changing marks, severe rash or a skin problem that persists should be assessed by a qualified clinician or dermatologist.
